Gillard Government supports Royal Society For The Welfare Of Mothers And Babies

Tony Burke, Member for Watson, today welcomed the Gillard Government’s investment to continue the Royal Society for the Welfare of Mothers and Babies.

The Gillard Government has committed to continued investment over three years as part of the Family Support Program.

Tony Burke welcomed the investment saying the Royal Society For The Welfare Of Mothers & Babies, commonly known as Tresillian Family Care, provided important support services for local families.

“When a new baby is born it should be the happiest time for a family but for some parents it becomes a time of unbelievable and unrelieved stress. Tresillian helps these families like nowhere else can,” Mr Burke said.

“Tresillian Family Care provides an important support service for the local community by providing expert parenting advice during those early years.

“I welcome the Gillard Government’s continued commitment to Watson, particularly through this investment of more than $350,000 to allow Tresillian to continue its important work.

“We know that their work is having a real and positive impact on the lives of local families.”

The Family Support Program provides services in over 2,200 locations across Australia to support families, improve children’s wellbeing and safety, and build more resilient communities.

Tresillian Family Care provides support services such as a parent’s help line, outreach services, and residential and day stays to work through more intensive parenting issues.
