The Turnbull Government’s breathtaking hypocrisy was exposed today when the Finance Minister admitted the Government had not released its final Budget bottom line.
The Government has been demanding Labor release its policy costings, but in an embarrassing admission Mathias Cormann said the Government had not done the same.
When Mathias Cormann was asked on Sky News about how the Government would be funding its campaign promises, the Finance Minister said:
“We’ll make these relevant announcements in good time.”
MATHIAS CORMANN – SKY NEWS – FRIDAY, 27 MAY 2016
Mr Turnbull has been running a scare campaign on Labor’s costings but has been exposed for hypocrisy after demanding one thing and doing the exact opposite.
Mr Turnbull’s attempt to have Labor release its final costings on policies not yet announced while doing the exact opposite is childish and hypocritical.
We’re in week three of an eight-week campaign, and, just like the Government, Labor will continue to make policy announcements throughout the campaign.
At the last election the Liberals released their final budget bottom line on the Thursday before polling day. Labor will do better.
Labor is committed to having more improvements to the Budget bottom line than spends over the medium-term and has kept rigidly to this rule.
Mr Turnbull and the Liberals want to spend taxpayers’ money on giving big businesses a $50 billion tax cut, while Bill Shorten and Labor plan to invest in schools and Medicare.
Mr Turnbull is happy to spend taxpayers’ money. He just doesn’t want to spend it on Australian families.
