The Medicare office in Roselands Shopping Centre will be closed in a decision by the Abbott Government that will impact on families and pensioners the hardest.
Member for Watson Tony Burke said Roselands Shopping Centre is a hub for the local community with good public transport and plenty of parking.
“The decision by the Abbott Government to close Medicare Roselands will impact on families and pensioners the hardest,” Mr Burke said.
“The closure will mean people have to travel further and for longer to get access to important services.”
“It appears there has been no genuine consultation with the local community or evaluation of how this closure will impact on services.”
The closure of Medicare Roselands will mean there is neither a Medicare nor Centrelink office in the Roselands area. People wanting to access services will need to travel to Campsie or Bankstown.
